Assistant Nursing

If you are interested in taking up a job as a Nursing assistant you would be required to enroll in a certificate program which is the requirement of the state you live in.

The certificate course is very exciting and adventurous. The duration of the program generally lasts from four weeks up to twelve weeks depending on the type of course you are planning to take and the requirement of the state. The minimum training required is of seventy five hours. Here you can practice on the mannequins or on each other. Where as the Clinicals, are required to be worked with the actual patients under the guidance of the medical staff.

Once you have finished the program you are required to take the Exam for the Certified Nursing Assistant Exam. Most of the states require you to sign up for the test within ninety days of finishing the course. The program is usually to complete the basic fundamentals which you will need on the job and pass your exams as well. You need to clarify any points which is not understood by you before you appear for the exams.

The Certificate Nursing Assistant Exam requirements vary from state to state, but most will be very similar to each other in their content and the basic structure. The test is usually made up of two parts that is Written and the clinicals. The written is the test of the contents about the basic of nursing assistant and they are all taught in the college during your course time and are available in your course work and text books available.

The clinical requires you to work in a medical facility and show your expertise on the job. The tasks need to be done in front of the state examiner who will watch your every move. The skills can be anything from taking care of the patients needs, or bathing a patients etc.

While the bath giving and hand washing is common sense and anybody can do it but they are very important part of the Nursing assistants job. Providing the patient with the privacy and dignity is a special skill which the Nursing assistant need to have.
