Assistant Nursing

The nurses assistant has become the part of any hospital. The assistant leaves nurses free time to  concentrate on their tasks. The nursing assistant need to be highly skilled and very observant as regards to the patient’s condition and report that information back to the nurse. Due to huge responsibilities, the nurse cannot spend large amounts of time with the patient so the nurse assistant is often referred as the nurse’s “eyes and ears”.

If you are interested in the medical field, you have a great opportunity be a Nursing Assistant, which can open new doors for you to explore the medical field. You will be with the patients, their families, you will get a chance to interact with all the fields of medicine like, Doctors involved in the case, X-Ray, Emergency Staff and Specialist. Since you will be working with so many types of individuals, you will get to learn communication skills which is a vital quality to have for being an effective Nursing Assistant. You will be responsible for meeting the basic needs of your patients including feeding, bathing, and dressing. The level of care will vary depending on the patient’s needs. In addition, you will be providing them and their family the emotional support which is needed during the time.

Your involvement with the nursing staff will be on a regular basis and it will give you exposure with the doctors and other technicians at the Hospitals. When the nurse is not around you will be responsible for the patient and during the doctor visits when the nurse is not around you are responsible to give the medical details about the patient. For example, you can inform the doctor about the appetite and the sleeping patterns of the patient and whether if there is any change in the same.

You also will get to learn and watch various aspects of medicine and will meet technicians from the different fields. The emergency staff in the hospital is a very important link between the patient and hospital, you should be able to immediately call them when one is in need of  their services.

In the role of a Nursing assistant, you will have the opportunity to care for the patients, get to meet the professionals and are exposed to all the aspects of the medical field. The more you are able to effectively, communicate with these professionals, the better service you will be providing to those in your care.
So in short, you will be the most important link between the doctor and the Nurse.
